President's Message

Victor Tibbs, President

Happy New Year and Greetings – 186 Chapter Members and Guests:

As we start this New Year, I would like to wish all a Healthy, Joyous and Prosperous (Riding) New Year. I would also like to thank Dan Soraoka and his great officer teams for all the fabulous fun, camaraderie, and good rides these past three years. There were many “unmapped”, great roads which Dan found, and all were a joy to ride.

Moving forward, I would like to thank those members who have offered to assist in the various officer positions for the chapter this coming year. Though some of us might have titles as “chapter officers”, we are fortunate to be members within a great group of people and friends, and without our members, we don’t have a chapter.

Our motto for this year is “Sharing Times And Rides” – and I hope everyone will enjoy the variety of events that will be suggested for the chapter this year. If you have a ride suggestion, have a favorite ride location you like to go to – or always wanted to go to, if you would like to lead a ride, please do not hesitate to send the officer team an e-mail. We will consider all suggestions. During the month of January, 2008, and throughout the year, we will be gathering information to suggest to our membership, update our calendar and web site – so please take the time to check out your web site.

Our rides and events are open to all. Our first ride this year is going to Angels Camp for lunch – weather permitting – on January 12th, 2008, leaving Start Location (3) at 10AM. Our general membership meeting (open to all) – will be Reading the National Charter and Signing, updating our membership list, signing the 2008 Ride Waivers, and a General Membership Meeting at the Concord Police Station – 1PM – January 13th, 2008. I hope to see everyone there.

STAR recognizes safety as a first priority. The STAR community is a mix of riders with varied riding experiences. Chapter rides follow all DMV laws and limits, to keep everyone as safe as possible. This allows everyone to enjoy the ride and not have new riders feel overly stressed. STAR chapter rides do not include "tavern runs", and consumption of alcoholic beverages on chapter rides is prohibited. We want to see you back safely for the next ride.

All brands of motorcycles are welcome. If you are looking for a family motorcycle association, with a lot of pride, spirit and camaraderie without the "attitude" you have found the right organization and chapter. Please see our mission statement below, as well as the directions to our (3) meeting locations.

Looking forward to “Sharing Times And Riding” with everyone this year.

Victor
